Your Hub help topics

  • Why would I need a MediaHub?

A MediaHub provides the following benefits:

    • You get your own private and secure Wi-Fi network.
    • You will be able to access the Optify network with multiple devices, as the MediaHub adds 4 wired ports in addition to Wi-Fi.
    • Your connection won't be affected by other traffic, so Wi-Fi speed should be better.

For more information, see our MediaHub page.

  • My MediaHub is faulty. Can I get a replacement?

Yes. Our MediaHubs come with a 12-month warranty.

We can arrange for a new one to be sent out to you free of charge only if:

    • it is within the 12-month warranty period,
    • it is faulty beyond repair, and
    • the damage has not been caused by accident.

If the MediaHub is out of warranty, you will have to pay the full price for a replacement.

  • Can I change my Home Hub's network name and password?

Yes. All you have to do is login to your Home Hub's admin page by entering http://192.168.0.1 on your browser. The username is ‘admin’ and the password is ‘optify’. Once logged in, you can change your Wi-Fi password by following these instructions:

    1. Click on “configuration”, click on “Wireless”, select wl0 (2.4G) or wl1 (5G), change SSID name to the one you want and then apply/save.
    2. In “Manual Setup”, select the SSID for which you want to change the password.
    3. Make sure the network is set to “WPA2-PSK” and change the WPA/WAP2 passphrase to your new password.
    4. Click on “Apply” and you're done!
  • Can you provide a static IP address?

We currently only provide dynamic IP addresses with our service. However, providing static IP addresses is something we are looking at, and will hopefully be making them available soon.

  • What do I do if I forget my Wi-Fi key or password?

If you have forgotten your Wi-Fi key (network password), then all you need to do is connect to your Optify network, login to your Home Hub's admin page with http://192.168.0.1 in your browser, and use ‘admin’ as your username and ‘optify’ as your password. Once logged in, just follow these simple steps to change your Wi-Fi password:

    1. Click on “configuration”, click on “Wireless” and then click “Security”.
    2. In “Manual Setup”, select the SSID for which you want to change the password.
    3. Make sure the network is set to “WPA2-PSK” and change the WPA/WAP2 passphrase to a new password of your choice.
    4. Click on “Apply” and that’s it!
  • How do I set up "port forwarding"?

Port forwarding is the way of making a computer on your home network accessible to computers on the internet even though it is behind a router.

We have written a short guide to setting up port forwarding on your Home Hub. You can find it here.

It is a bit of a technical process, so if you're having trouble, contact our Customer Care team and they will be happy to help you.
